Protesting against Stansted protestors
If, like me you live near Stansted airport- you live with the constant threat of unwanted noise pollution. Not from planes I hasten to mention, but from protestors knocking on my door wanting me to sign some pointless bit of nonsense. You see I believe Stansted Airport os a superb amenity. And from the huge crowds that are there whenever I am – I suspect I am not alone.
I have a superb, simple and really practical idea for Stansted protestors. Don’t use Stansted. If you really don’t want all the convenience of cheap air travel on your doorstep – go elsewhere. And if you really fins air travel so reprehensible = don’t use it. I bet that would end all pseudo-green protests at a stroke.
Although the planes pass right over my house I barely notice them. They are very quiet = much quieter than the road outside my house – and as no plane has yet to crash on my house I don’t feel they are as hazardous as the hundreds of selfish motorists that ignore the 30mph speed limit in the village.
All things considered I cannot find a bad word to say about Stansted. If I want to I can jet off to just about every country in Europe for less than the rail fare to London. And I live well within an easy commute to London. When I was a little flusher, I used to fly to Brussels for lunch. Alas, Ryan Air no longer flies that route – and I no longer have the money to be so self-indulgent.
I do think Ryan Air take liberties, perhaps more so than other low fair airlines. Not with the prices – they seem scarcely believable at times. It’s the add-ons. The number of times I have bought a 99p air ticket only to find it costs nearly forty times more. There aren’t many businesses where such blatant lying about price is legal. And how come when you cancel you don’t seem to get your airport taxes back, even though you have been nowhere near the airport?
